Sprain

A sprain is an injury to a ligament (a fibrous tissue that connects bone to bone), while a strain is an injury to a muscle or tendon. Sprains and strains can occur as a result of overuse, sudden movement, or trauma, and can cause pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the affected limb. The most common symptoms of a sprain or strain include pain, swelling, bruising, and stiffness. In severe cases, sprains and strains can cause muscle spasms and difficulty moving the affected limb. Treatment options for sprains and strains may include rest, ice, compression, and elevation (the RICE method), as well as over-the-counter or prescription pain medication and physical therapy. It is important to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment of a sprain or strain.
